[ITK-users] Sigmoid

Hi everyone,

In ITK manual, 
sigmoid filter example has 0-255 range & alpha, beta values are taken as per actual intensity of pixels in ROI

but when we go to level set segmentation, Sigmoid values are between 0-1 (speed image). 
is there any requirement of normalization etc ?
can anyone help me to clarify this doubt?
