It compiled for me without a problem on 10.7.5
I will try to test this on 10.8.5 this evening and try to find a solution

I had also a problem with the creation of the WrapITK.pth file, I had an old file in my site-packages folder which broke the linking. I will also investigate this.
Don't know if it's a problem on homebrew's side or ITK's.

By the way, you error message seems strange to me. Just to be sure, which python are you using (2.7, 3.x ?, and installed from homebrew or the official distribution ?)
You added some options to the formula or just used the command I gave you ?
