Thanks so much for your reply.  It was helpful.  I originally started this email to say that I was still having trouble, but in the course of getting the code formatted I resolved it.  One mistake is that I was not creating a proper mask or assigning to an image when running the execute function, but even fixing that did not totally solve the problem.
