Hi Lisa,

the implementation details of the TPS is explained in the TMI Paper of
Davis et al.
*"A Physics-Based Coordinate Transformation
for 3-D Image Matching"*

There you can find the details how the coefficients and the affine
parameters are estimated based on a linear equation system solved via SVD.
