Hello All,

I'd like to announce the deprecation of cygwin support in the upcoming ITK Version 4.

Here is the proposed patch that explicitly removes support for cygwin.
http://review.source.kitware.com/#change,870

Here is the Mantis Ticket that describes much of the rational behind this change:
http://public.kitware.com/Bug/view.php?id=11659

== Summary ====================
We do not have any dashboards for cygwin. And it is not being supported by the development team.

We recommend the use of the more compiant mingw for a gcc compiler on windows.

There are cmake distribution issues with cygwin (that's a long story with a long email trail on the cmake mailing list). But, in the past, we had a cygwin nightly.

This patch removes specific support for cygwin. Once cygwin reaches its goal of being a posix system, then itk should work
with no if cygwin stuff at all. The next cygwin release of CMake will treat the platform like posix.

Regards,

Hans
