[Insight-users] Centered vs Non-Centered transforms

I am very confused by the Centered and Non-Centered Transforms
explanations.
If I use "center" in both, then do I get the same mapping? If so, why
this duplication?
Is is for difference in the computation time, because for non-centered,
an "offset" is 
computed once and for all? 
I would appreciate if you could provide a link/explanation, other than
the one on 
Wiki, and a similar email.
