It seems that you are doing this from Cygwin...

Please try the following


Remove lines 46 to 56 (inclusive) and line 66.

After the removal, the command:

        svn diff ArticleExample.tex

should show you this:

-  \pdftrue

Those lines where there for dealing with pdflatex.
Then seem to be problematic with the Latex installation
in Cygwin.



Once you remove those line, you can type "make" and the
PDF file should build.
