[Insight-users] Preferred way to output information?

Hi Luis and the others,

Is there a preferred way to output information in ITK (especially in 
filters)?
The only thing I've found is itkDebugMacro, but that doesn't seem to 
work (even if I switch DebugOn()), I can't see any output at all. Is it 
ok to just use cout? My filter runs for a very long time and I'd like to 
give some feed-back to the user during execution...
