[Insight-users] Advise on Deformable model functionality

Hi all

I need some advice on which way to use ITK deformable models.

I would like to segment adipose tissue from abdominal "MR volumes". 256*256
* (16 slices).

The adipose tissue is to be separated into two classes, subcutaneous and
visceral (inside, and outside the muscle wall).

 

How can this be solved?

A region growing approach will probably fail due to "discontinuities" in the
muscle wall!

 

I am thinking of something like the DeformableModel1.cxx example where the
mesh is only updated in-plane!

Or a pure 2D approach where the result from one slice is used as a starting
model for the next slice?

 

How can ITK be used to solve this?
