The edge linking step is also implemented.  If you look in 
"itkCannyEdgeDetectionImageFilter.cxx"
program, "FollowEdge()" function takes care of that

The output of the filter is an ITK image with linked edges. Again, if 
you look in "itkCannyEdgeDetectionImageFilter.cxx",
the GenerateData() function invokes "HyestersisThresholding()"and 
"FollowEdge()" functions.
