You can use the 3D BrainWeb datasets in the FTP server


    ftp://public.kitware.com/pub/itk/Data/BrainWeb/


A full step-by-step exercise on how to segment the ventricles
in this datasets using the GeodesicActiveContoursLevelSet application
from InsightApplications was posted to the list a couple of months ago.
