well it worked...
what i did was to change the MET_UCHAR value in the .mha header
to MET_CHAR...
( i had already tried all the others except this)

i did not expect this sorry but i dont know if this was something that 
has to do with my system...
( i dont understand why by default it was MET_UCHAR)

it seems there was no problem in the code...
