Hi Charl,

It would be wonderful if you can send me your code. I need to run the code in
3D, too so that won't be a real problem. Right I have no idea how would the
evolution would change if change the connectivity pairs used. But I don't think
that's real hard to alter in the code. 

I think the idea of putting the option of topology preservation in the
SparseFieldLevelSetFilter. It would be great if that's an option in that class.
