[Insight-users] Using ITK with DICOM - extracting non-image information.

Hello, I'm new to ITK, but am considering using it in a project
requiring segmentation and visualisation of DICOM datasets.
 
Now, in addition to the images, I need to extract some of the
non-image records from the DICOM data too - physician's
name, patient's name, ID, DOB, scanning region and maybe
a few other records.
 
Can these records be recovered using the DICOM import
facilities within ITK? or does it only extract the minimum
information necessary to reconstruct the image?
