Hi Sharad,

If you install VTK from the binary distribution
you no longer need to run CMake on it.

Note however that the VTK binary distribution
cannot be combined with an ITK application because
VTK it is not using the ANSI stdlib standard by
default.

You have to get the source code of VTK 4.2,
and configure it with CMake. Make sure that
you pass to advanced mode in CMake and enable
the option  VTK_USE_ANSI_STDLIB. Then build
VTK.
