[Insight-users] Loss of bit depth in converting fron png to bmp

Hi Rashmi,

BMP only supports 8 bits per pixel.
http://astronomy . swin . edu . au/~pbourke/dataformats/bmp/

It can also do 24bits per pixel for color images
where 8 bits are used per components.

One more reason for *not* using BMP for medical images.
