I also recommend you change the last line of the matlab file to:
quiver(1:64, 1:64, arr(:,:,18,1), arr(:,:,18,2), 0.5);

there are even more obvious problems shown.
I am still not know if it is my problem (maybe I should not use that series
of filters to get a 2nd order derviative gradient map, in such case, I hope
someone can give me a standard pipeline of getting the 2nd order deriviative
gradient map) or there is something wrong in one of these filters.

we need a discussion here.
