Gaëtan and Richard,

Could the two of you coordinate your patches into a single patch for
review. It's not clear to me the state and relationship of the 4
patches in the topic. We think these threshold filters are important
and want to move them forward.

Are there issues with Gaëtan's original patch (with mods). Can we
abandon Richard's?
