This is possible, but the mechanism currently used in not very nice
(I'm the culprit, I've implemented it).
Using a factory for that task would be a lot nicer.
My only problem is:
How do we ensure that the FFTW is used when FFTW is available?
This is not something obvious to me with the factory.
