[Insight-developers] Auto line breaks in commit messages?

When I commit, it opens vi and I type the commit message. When I then
push to gerrit, the commit message shows up as one big long line. Is
there any way to automatically break the commit message into < 80
character lines before being pushed? I'm sure there is an editor
setting to break the lines, but it would be easier for new folks if it
was done automatically.
