Hi all,

There are plans in the works for creation of a NIfTI-2 format, an
extension of NIfTI-1 allowing for 64-bit storage, mostly to handle
large datasets. It is not a big change and should be out quickly.

Details and an active discussion are available on the NITRC site,
since it makes sense to keep the discussion in one place.
