Hi,

You might want to take a look at MITK (http://www.mitk.org), and
specifically, mitkMeshUtil.h, which contains functions for VTK-ITK
conversions for a number of VTK types. I use it outside of MITK's tree using
some of the dependencies from mitkVector.h as well, though had to do a
little commenting of the MITK-specific classes.
