So a back of the envelope calculation is that explicit instantiation could
make ITK compile 15X faster (?)

It is interesting to note how many template instantiations are not "leaf
filters/algorithms".  The majority are at the Image, ImageBase,
ImageToImageFilter, ImageRegionIterator, Transform, ,... level
