I don't think that ever worked for VS6.
That was a VS7 feature.   VS6 uses template files
that contain the build types.   As far as I can see
Release, Debug, MinSizeRel, and RelWithDebInfo should always
be present in a VS6 project unless you change the Template
directory for the project.
