[Insight-developers] Byte swapping in MetaIO on 64 bit systems.

Hi,

I suspect there may still be a bug with byte swapping in the MetaImageIO
on 64 bit systems.  The itkSTAPLEImageFilterTest compares results with a
baseline image of floats written little endian.  Notice that this test is
failing only on 64-bit platforms.  The output text and (big endian)  
output image on those platforms appear visually correct in the dashboard, 
but the baseline image as is incorrect.

Any thoughts or suggestions from the MetaImageIO community?
