Hi,
Because of the alphabetical listing of names in the course, I've become
the contact for the SPIE Medical Imaging tutorial. :)
They've asked us to present again in 2004, but they also have
acknowledged that perhaps having the tutorial every-other-year is more
appropriate.
1) If you are interested in participating in this - please send me an email
2) If you feel we should skip one year - please send me an email
I'll report the results to the list.
Thanks,
Stephen

Stephen,
You had a very good attendance for your ITK course at last February's SPIE
Medical Imaging Symposium. Congratulations on presenting such a desirable
course.
Unless you think that you have exhausted the pool of those attendees who
have an interest in ITK, I think it would be very worthwhile if you and
your fellow lecturers could present your course again next February.
If you prefer to skip a year and come back to give the course in 2005, I
imagine that would be OK too. However, I will not be involved in the
organization of the Symposium after 2004, so I can not speak for the future
organizers. Personally, I think there is some advantage to giving courses
every other year, just to keep interest and attendance up.
As for funding, I assume that you received a stipend from SPIE last
February for presenting the course. However, because you had quite a few
presenters and the amount of money may have seemed meager and indeed may
not have paid for your expenses. If that is a problem, perhaps you could
find a way to give the course with fewer lecturers. Just a suggestion.
Please contact Bonnie Peterson at SPIE about when she needs to have your
decision. You may coordinate further logistics through her.
Cheers,
Ken Hanson
