Bill,

Thanks for the advice.  The University of Iowa has already started to 
doing this.  In addition, we are refactoring the Analyze, GE4x, GE5x, and 
GEAdw, file readers to use this new mechanism (and to remove the 'C' 
style programming).

We have not been making commits in an effort to keep from breaking the 
dashboard.
