I'd like the "measure" the distance between two "images" using metrics similar to those implemented
in ITK.
In the simpliest embodiment, I have set a set of samples (x, y, I1, I2) where (x, y) is a pixel
location, I1 is the intensity at that pixel in image #1, and I2 is the intensity at that pixel in
image #2.
It looks like our toolbox of metrics require actual images be presented to the metrics, where I have
a collection of samples. However, it looks like the mutual information metric (at least) draws a set
of samples from the image and does its calculation.
Is there a way I can pass my "samples" to the metrics for evaluation?
Or is my case really a point set to point set comparison problem where our current metrics are pretty
much limited to image to image?
In my application, my "moving" image is really a generative image (meaning I am algorithmetically
generating the image on the fly) and if I could, I would like to avoid having to actually generate
the image but work off a set of samples from the image.
Jim Miller
