You have to fiddle around with registry keys.
There are instructions at:

I know it works for NT and W2K - don't know about older OS.
I fixes the syntax highlighting - but doesn't show up in
the list of source files.

How can I adjust Windows/VC++ so that it recognizes .txx files as C++ files?
I would like to enable syntax highlighting for these files as well as have
them show up as valid source files when I try to add them to a project. I
have gotten it so that .txx files automatically open with VC++, but nothing
more than that.
