Dear Peter,
Thanks for your interest in the Image Guided Surgery Toolkit (IGSTK).
Needle biopsy is actually one of the target applications that we
will use for evaluating the use of the IGSTK toolkit.
The software practices that we follow for developing IGSTK involve
a continuous release of the source code. This means that the source
code is always available for anybody to try and evaluate. This of
course doesn't imply that the software is stable at all times.
You are welcome to download the current IGSTK and build it using
the instructions from the Web page:
http://public.kitware.com/IGSTKWIKI/index.php/How_to_build_IGSTK
The source code can be downloaded from the CVS repository by
following the instructions at:
http://public.kitware.com/IGSTKWIKI/index.php/Common_CVS_commands
We are currently focused on supporting the Polaris and Aurora
trackers from NDI, but we have talked about supporting a larger
set of trackers, Polhemus among them.
Note that when you download code from CVS, this code is subject
to rapid changes, since we are in the development stages of the
toolkit. You should check first the state of the Nightly Dashboard
that tracks the state of the toolkit every day:
http://public.kitware.com/dashboard.php?name=igstk
For more information on the IGSTK project you may want to
look at the Wiki pages:
http://public.kitware.com/IGSTKWIKI/index.php/Main_Page
You are more that welcome to send us feedback on your
impressions on the toolkit.
Please let us know if you have any questions,
Thanks
Luis
