Hello,

We are looking for a  Junior Software Engineer to developp 3D image 
processing application in the field of Mecahnis of Materials witk ITK/VTK.
Integrated within the “Damage and durability” research team within the 
Physics and Mechanics of Materials department, ISAE-ENSMA Poitiers 
(France), the candidate will participate in the development of a tool 
for the processing of X-Ray CT images.

Job description:
The members of the “Damage and Durability” research group are interested 
in studying the relationship between the microstructure and the 
mechanical properties of different classes of materials: composites, 
polymers and metal. Recently the team has acquired a high performance 
X-ray micro-tomography setup, enabling the reconstruction of the 3D 
microstructure within the material volume, taking into account the 
distribution of defects damage in a material sample. The variety of 
materials and defects considered requires the implementation of 
strategies of analysis and image processing which are not necessarily 
implemented in available commercial software.
The candidate will work in tight collaboration with a research engineer 
and researcher and will be responsible for developing processing and 
analysis image tools, starting from 3D image processing libraries and 
integrating them into dedicated software. He will then move to the 
modelling and the analysis of the materials behavior by running 
simulations on the reconstructed microstructures. The developed tools 
developed will be the object of research studies, technical and research 
reports, journal publications.

Activities:
•    Adapt and implement mathematical algorithms to meet a specific 
research need in image processing and modelization
•    Choose, adapt and implement existing tools, and program missing 
elements to address a problem
•    Translate and optimize softwares and tools to new hardware architecture
•    Process data measurements and define quality criterions
•    Ensure tracability of the developped tools

Skills required:
•    General knowledge in data processing and mathematical image processing
•    General knowledge in C++, Python Languages
•    Knowledge of some image processing and visualization libraries (for 
ex. ITK, VTK)
•    software design and coding skills
•    work as part of a team (technical staff and researcher) in a 
project context
•    written and spoken competence in English or French is essential
Required diploma:   Master of Science in Computer Science or Image 
Processing
Experience: beginner accepted
Gross monthly remuneration: depending on the experience, from 1990.96€ 
to 2555.85€ (health insurance included)

Position Available as of: 1st April 2015
