[CMake] Missing Internal Variables

Hi,
	I am trying to use CMake for first time. To accomplish that, I've
created a simple project which is basically one file.
	Whenever I run cmake I get a bunch of error messages:
$ cmake .
CMake Error: Error required internal CMake variable not set, cmake may
be not be built correctly.
Missing variable is:
CMAKE_do_COMPILER_ENV_VAR
CMake Error: Error required internal CMake variable not set, cmake may
be not be built correctly.

I ma using cmake 2.4.2 (both precompiled and source packages).

My configuration is:
  Linux Distribuition: CentOS 3.7
  gmake 3.79.1
  gcc/g++ 3.2.3

  Am I doing something wrong or it is a bug ?
