[Cmake] need help with compiling error

Hello,

I am new to vtk and I am trying to make the vtk toolkit run on my windows xp laptop. I used cmake to build the VTK.dsw workspace, but when I try to compile a c++ source file in that workspace I get the following error message: 
 
 Cannot compile the file C:\...filepath\cone.cxx;no compile tool is   associted with the file extension

I am using visual studio 6.0. How do I compile one of my own files?
