0009578: ITK Install fails on windows vista / windows 7 64 bit
ITK fails to execute the Install target of the solution generated by CMake on 64 bit windows vista and windows 7. ITK itself compiles just fine. The install script seems to crash because it has trouble copying a certain runtime file, but I am not sure why. I am using the visual studio 9 2008 sp1 compiler. I installed all the updates for visual studio product, but the problem persists.
The same settings compile just fine on my 32 bit windows installation (as well as Mac and Linux). Also both windows installations use the german version, if that makes a difference.

Same problem installing VTK. However, I was able to run INSTALL in my Windows 7 system for both ITK and VTK after I changed CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX to point to the folder "D:\Program Files" residing in a second drive.

Same problem for me, with 3D Slicer, on Windows 7 64-bit with Visual Studio 9 sp1. The packaging always fails because a file cannot be copied. It is always a different file that causes the trouble. The file exists, readable, has no special characters in the path.

The problem is due to file copy problem in CMake-2.8.1 on Windows 7. See http://public.kitware.com/Bug/view.php?id=10790 [^] for details.

Bug 0010790 describes the problem and fix in more detail. The fix is in CMake 2.8.2 and later.
