CDash now stores the updates in the database.
Do you really need this feature? It might take some time to regenerate all the previous updates... |

I can deal without it on http://www.cdash.org/CDash. [^]
Still, I'm asking if there a way to do it in CDash in general: maybe people deploying CDash for their own projects would like to perform this update. |

I suppose if the data is not there we could fall back to the old slow way of doing it? |

If you guys think this is necessary we can implement this, but this is going to be painful to maintain, etc... |

I don't think this is necessary. It sounds it would be there only to support transition from CDash 0.8 to CDash 1.0 anyway. Let's forget about it.
More general question though: Let's assume there is already a cdash server running with version A. The existing database was incrementally build every day with version A.
Now, the sysadmin of the cdash server upgrades the CDash server to version B. But version B adds new types of entries/new tables in the database. Can we think of a general mechanism (manual or automatic) of generating the new entries/new tables on the existing database? |

We might want to put a note saying there is no data here instead of saying there are no updates. Pointing people at the individual machine updates. |

Putting "No Data" is a good idea.
To Francois: we have the mechanism for this, it is just a question of providing the tools (and the amount of effort it would require for this). I think as long as we are in the early stage of CDash we don't really have to provide the tools and in a week or so people are going to forget about it anyways. That said, this is a very good point, that we should keep in mind. |

I'm closing this bug. Feel free to reopen if we really need this feature. |
