Summary0004977: RFE: SEPARATE_ARGS does word splitting
DescriptionRight now there is no easy way (according to Thomas Christian Chust, no way at all) to perform shell argument splitting on a variable, particularly one returned by pkgconfig or a similar tool which may contain multiple paths with spaces in them.

It would be useful if SEPARATE_ARGUMENTS (optionally?) performed shell word splitting so that spaces, quotes, semicolons, and other such special characters could be preserved after splitting.
