DescriptionWhen browsing for a directory it would be good to be able to type in the dir.

where would you put it in the file dialog?

Not in the file dialog, the directory dialog.
It would work fine at the bottom, right above the save/cancel buttons.
The reason I asked for the feature is that to get to a path that requires going back to the root dir, it's often faster to type the first part of the new path and click from there.

ok so that's a whole different feature. You want like keyboard completion, i.e. as you type the first few letters, it moves you to a directory entry.
