[vtkusers] Automatically connecting x,y,z point data?

Hi,   I have a lot (hundreds) of spatial xyz points that I would like to connect using a straight line or spline, without having to manually insert the coordinates into the line or spline source tools.  This is probably a really easy python source or filter script, but I am a real novice with python, any help would be greatly appreciated.
