[vtkusers] Extracting surface from point sampling

Hi,

I have a point surface sampling of a cylinder with open ends in a 3D image
(.mhd) with the same scalar value for all the points,
and I want to create a surface. What is the easy way to do it? I tried
Paraview and used 'Extract Surface' filter
and it was just giving the surface of the box that outlines the volume.

Can anyone suggest me a way how to do it?  or give some pointers in VTK?
