[vtkusers] vtkvolume Colormapping

hello everyone,
Can anyone help me in coloring a vtkvolume? , i already constructed the volume starting from vtkDICOMImageReader  ending with vtkVolumeRayCastMapper and  vtkVolumeRayCastCompositeFunction , extracting  it the volume and setting the camera and everything. i just want to color the human body based on the organs. does it need itk for segmentation?? or i have to use LUT for color mapping ?, i already tried to use the isovalues but it differs from patient to another and i think that it's dependent on the modality and the region.
