I'm using neither Carbon nor Qt, sorry; but certainly some people are.

Your choice of Carbon vs Cocoa depends on the version of Qt you use. 
Older Qt uses Carbon, the newest Qt uses Cocoa.

From a VTK<->Mac OS perspective, Cocoa is the better choice, because the
parts of Carbon that VTK needs are deprecated and Apple's replacement is
Cocoa.
