Hi Tim,

Personally I have built and installed VTK-5.2 on my Debian boxes without
any problems.
I have 32 and 64 systems with Debian Etch and Lenny with both gcc:

gcc version 4.3.1 (Debian 4.3.1-2)
and
gcc version 4.1.2 20061115 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.1-21).

I compiled VTK with Tcl/Tk and Python support with no problems.
If you have identical boxes you can easily clone the system with VTK-5.2
compiled.

No doubts that Mailand Bottoms as the Debian VTK maintainer is
the best person to ask for all Debian specifics.

Regards,

Alex
