[vtkusers] Casting scalar-type from 2^16 to 2^12 (hounsfield)

Hello,

I have a Problem with casting image scalars from a 16bit based greyscale
(unsignedShort) to the ~12bit hounsfield scala.

I m trying vtkImageShiftScale, but I don't get the result I want to have.
The hounsfield scala is from -1000 to 3000.

Any ideas?
