[vtkusers] dimensional measurement

hi; 
   I would like to ask that can anyone ,who has strived on dimensional measurement in VTK  , tell me about an algortihm of dimensional measurement . I mean which functions should be used? and also which queue? or  do you have any tutorials or links suggestions?
