[vtkusers] what is "vtkParticleReader"

hi
i am a new  vtk user and am hence not very well equipped
while going through the manual i came accross thi class called"vtkParticleReader" and could not gather much from there.
Can you please help me with it and tell me where and how should it be used and its importance an related to other Reader classes.
