[vtkusers] creating image data

hello

on page 141 of the 3rd edition of the main vtk textbook, they give an 
example from vol.cxx where they create their own image data

I don't understand how they know to obtain the ijk offset..
i.e. why is koffset = k*26*26
and joffset = j*26
and ioffset = i

maybe i dont understand the format of the image data
but i dont get it

if anyone feels like explaingin that would be nice..
