[vtkusers] volume splatting with VTK

Dear vtk users,

Can anyone point us to resources about volume rendering using splatting
in VTK? Has anyone done this before, and if so is there any source code
available?

I have done a search of the email archive of the vtk mailinglist, but
only got hits on volume rendering using ray casting.
