Try looking at the following methods:
  vtkRenderWindow::SaveImageAsPPM()
  vtkRenderWindow::SetFileName(char*)
  vtkRenderWindow::GetRGBAPixelData(...)

You may also want to look at similar methods in the vtkRenderWindow base
class and in the concrete subclass that you're using.
