</span>Here's a patch to remove gcc 3.x hacks and MSVC++ 8.0 (aka Visual Studio 2005) hacks:<br>

With this, gcc 4.0 and MSVC++ 9.0 (aka Visual Studio 2008) become minimums.<br>
