go for the 2nd alternative, since any <br>

increase without a significant coding <br>
overhead is
most welcome.<br>

As a side note, my applications runs just<br>
fine on VTK 4.4, while they are extremely<br>
slow on CVS VTK.<br>

Anyway, if the 1st alternative is adopted,<br>
I think that it would be most helpful if a detailed <br>
description was provided of the changes necessary <br>
to achieve comparable performance to that of VTK 4.5 and 4.4<br>
(perhaps in the VTK 5.0 User's Guide?)</span></p>
